Young People And Citizenship
This resource handbook provides an invaluable introduction to key themes within the Citizenship curriculum that will enable youth workers, teachers and Connexions Personal Advisers to develop lively and creative programmes for young people aged 11-16. The different activities and ideas included encourage young people to develop an understanding of how decisions are made both locally and nationally, enabling them to make sense of the world around them, promoting participation, and building the skills to speak out about the things that matter.
Linked to the citizenship units within the DfES National Curriculum, the handbook can be used in schools or pupil referral units as part onal Advisers.
Divided into seven sections, topics include:
Young peoples rights and responsibilities
Decision making
The importance of voting and the democratic process
Fairness and social justice
How to effect change and community involvement
Media
Global issues
The environment, including Agenda 21
