Discounts on Anti-bullying workshops to support National Anti-bullying Week 2014

The theme for National Anti-Bullying Week 2014 (17th-21st November) is 'Band together to beat bullying'. As part of my commitment to this I am offering TWO Beat Bullying one-day workshops at a specially discounted price of £450 each (usual price £550). Book both workshops together and save another £50!*

The workshops, which must be booked by the end of December 2014 and delivered before April 2015, are ideal for those working with 11-19 year olds looking to add new tools and techniques to their anti-bullying toolkit. Alternatively, I can come and work directly with young people preparing to deliver peer education, become Youth Health Champions or peer mentors back in their communities.

Workshop one – Challenging bullying - A quick poll amongst children, young people or adults usually reveals that at some point in our lives bullying touches everyone. Very few people can truly say that they don’t know someone who has been bullied or seen bullying behaviour, even if they haven’t experienced it first hand.

This training aims to raise awareness and provide a resource pack of tools and techniques to challenge bullying, build resilience and explore responsibility by:

·      Defining bullying

·      Considering different forms of bullying including relationship bullying, verbal bullying and hurtful language

·      Exploring the collective responsibility to challenge bullying

·      Looking at ways to build resilience and identify risk factors

·      Identifying support available both for victims and perpetrators of bullying.

Workshop two - E-safety and social media - For most young people social media and being online is a big part of their lives. Whether it’s to talk with friends, endorse a product, share music and pictures or even find a job, it has never been easier to click ‘like’ and share your preferences with the world. This workshop acknowledges the growing culture of sharing your life online, but offers tools and techniques to explore the darker side of this freedom, supporting young people to stay safe and free from bullying and exploitation.

This interactive workshop aims to:

  • Raise awareness about E-safety and cyber-bullying
  • Offer practical activities to use with young people to explore a range of social media and online issues
  • Consider the potential consequences of ‘sexting’ and sharing intimate pictures
  • Discuss support available and where to report concerns.

Finally, to show their support for the campaign, Jessica Kingsley Publishers (www.jkp.com) are offering a generous 10% off of the price of best-selling book ‘Cyberbullying, Activities to Help Children and Teens to Stay Safe in a Texting, Twittering, Social Networking World’. Packed with ideas to challenge and raise awareness about different types of online bullying, plus tips for keeping safe whilst still enjoying the freedom of social media, blogs and picture sharing, claim your 10% discount (RRP £9.99) by simply clicking here and using the code AB1 at checkout.
