Environmental issues form a key part of citizenship and participation programmes, providing opportunities for young people to get involved and make a difference to the world they live in on a local, national and global basis.

This one day training pack can be used with youth work professionals wishing to develop environmental projects with young people, or delivered directly to young people.

Learning outcomes

Participants will -

• Consider local and national environmental issues
• Consider the role of young people in environmental decision making and look at ways to make a difference
• Consider the rights and responsibilities of citizens
• Explore obstacles to young people’s effective participation, and consider ways to engage them
