Bullying or Banter?

Bullying or banter?

Banter or Bullying?

Good clean fun, or the best excuse ever for unpleasant behaviour? Exactly where is the line between acceptable 'banter' and 'bullying'? This new training workshop explores the difference and provides practitioners with a range of ideas to use with children and young people in formal and informal educational settings.

Most schools and youth services have policies and procedures to govern bullying once it has been identified, but how effective are these at raising awareness and encouraging peer support to tackle the early signs? This train-the-trainer style workshop encourages practitioners to motivate children and young people to take collective responsibility for keeping each other safe from the pressure of bullying behaviour and supports the development of peer education and peer-led interventions using a restorative justice approach. Suitable for those working with Key Stage 3-4 pupils this workshop can strengthen pastoral support and help to prevent banter escalating into bullying, as well as contributing to the PSHE curriculum.

This introductory workshop aims to  –

  • Identify the line between banter and bullying
  • Offer a range of activities to use within an educational context to raise awareness and challenge bullying behaviour with children and young people
  • Consider different forms of bullying and ways to build victim empathy through peer education
  • Explore ways to use a Restorative Justice approach to bullying within school.

This one-day workshop can be delivered in-house for £50 per person (minimum of 8 people)*. For more details and a copy of the workshop programme please contact Vanessa, vanessa_rogers@me.com or call 07843421157
